Our Ladies’ Guild/LWML (Lutheran Women in Mission) will observe LWML Sunday on October 18th/19th.

 The focus is on Supporting Missions from the LWML Mission statement. 

LWML began in July of 1942 when 100 LCMS women from around the country met at St. Stephen’s Lutheran Church in Chicago. Their goal was to join together all the women’s groups in supporting mission work to: 1) develop and maintain a greater mission consciousness through mission education, mission inspiration, and mission service; and 2) gather funds (Mites) for mission projects sponsored by LCMS. 

The “Mite Box” is based on the Biblical Story of the widow’s mite (Luke 21:1-4). In the 82 years since LWML began, over $100 million dollars in Mites has been raised to fund mission grants. Seventy-five percent of the Mite donations remain in Central Illinois and twenty-five percent is sent to National. 

Mite Boxes will be placed at two doorways as you leave the worship services. You are invited to drop coins or currency into the boxes to help fund both Central Illinois District and National Mission Grants.

Women's Night Out will be on Thursday, October 22nd at 6:30 pm at Fiesta Ranchera (Westside location).

LWR Quilters will meet on Tuesday, Oct. 13th, & Thursday, Oct. 15th, from 9:00 am - 11:00 am in the Parish Hall.

We will be assembling the items for the Personal Care Kits for Lutheran World Relief. 

We will also have refreshments and a short devotion.

It’s hard to believe, but it’s already time for us to soon be putting Personal Care Kits together for Lutheran World Relief (LWR). 

We appreciate our Christ Lutheran family helping provide the items needed to put these much-needed kits together! 

You may bring one item or as many items as you like to donate. It is our goal to make 80 kits again this year after hitting that goal last year.

Please, bring in the items by Thursday, October 8!

We are needing:

• 160 Bars of bath size soap
• 15 Adult size toothbrushes in individual packages
• 50 Wide tooth combs
• 21 Nail Clippers
• 70 Bath towels (Dark Colors, please) Reasonably priced ones can be found at Walmart.

There will be a basket for the Personal Care Kit donations in both the Christian Fellowship Area and by the church office. 

Again, we thank you for your generosity! 

Any extra items will go to make extra personal care kits for LWR and extra soap and toothbrushes will go to the pantry we support, Ministry and More.

The Big Give is coming back to Christ Lutheran Church this fall. 

We will start collecting tentatively on Sunday, Aug. 30 - Wednesday, Sept. 30.

An opportunity to help provide your neighbors in need with Thanksgiving meals.
Home Sweet Home Mission, Thrivent and Midwest Food Bank teamed up again and are asking community members to help them collect items for meal boxes that they distribute during Thanksgiving. Last year’s efforts helped feed over 1,800 families.

Attention Ladies: We are looking for ladies to volunteer to help with the Altar Guild.
